Our winter season ended with the Patrouille des Glaciers. Arolla departures took place in a good mood and with a perfect weather. The Grand Hôtel & Kurhaus will be open from June 19 to September 19, 2010. Take advantage of our 10% discount offer on stays with half board and full board from 4 nights in June and September, and 5% discount on stays with half board and full board from 4 nights in July and August. With our affiliations at the labels “Swiss Historic Hotels” and “typically Swiss Hotels”, we guarantee a good quality service in an authentic and traditional architecture. The new activities of this summer: During the summer, the Grand Hotel & Kurhaus will open a nature trail. During a walk of about one hour, thirty panels will inform you about 100 varieties of plants and flowers specific of the Arolla area, and also to the wildlife and glaciers. From July 2nd to 4th, we will host the 5th International Mountain Book Meeting, with an exhibition dedicated to the Commandant Charcot and the Antarctic. Activities, lectures and films are also planned. On July the 17th, at 9.00 PM theatrical play (in French!) «Elle et Lui ou alternatives du couple» by the Théâtre de Merdesson. On July the 19th, piano recital by Veronique Thual Chauvel. On July the 29th and August the 12th at 17:00, Legends about Val d'Herens by Bernadette Schieferstein. For the second consecutive year, Guy will offer evenings to explore the solar system. On August 7th and 21st. In the beginning of the night, just near the hotel, in a nice place coverd by the stars. Andrée Fauchère propose on request, glacier silt wrapping, please find more information on "glacier silt wrapping" Ayurvedic massages by Chantal and Pierre-Andre Chappot, please find the dates on "Ayurveda" For the same dates, for three persons or more, outside Yoga lessons. The Kurhaus Hotel is located above the Arolla village at an altitude of approximately 2100 m. It is surrounded by a magnificent forest of Arolle pines.
The building dates 1896 but the interior has been completely redone in 1979 with full modern comfort. The rooms are nicely decorated and have at least one wall covered with wood from local trees : Arolle and Meleze issued from the old beams that were recovered during the transformation. The large terrasse is an ideal place to relax. The view on the surrounding summits : Pigne d'Arolla, Mont-Collon, Aiguille de la Tza, Dents de Veisivi, ... is wonderful. Access to the hotel is through a private road and there is no foreign traffic and associated noise. Walking paths through the forest allow to walk in a constantly changing landscape. A small lake, multi-century Arolles, thousands of flowers (rhododendrons, gentianes, anemones, ...) will comply the nature and flower lovers. The hotel is located at the start point of many walks and paths to the alpine huts, The ski tracks and lifts can be accessed directly from the hotel, putting skis on and off right in front of the hotel.
